Botswana - Oasis Highlights

There are so many highlights in this fascinating country that it is impossible to list them all here. Our travel consultants will discuss your interests and be able to put a specific itinerary together for you, but below are a few must seeā€™s!

Okavango Delta

Explore the beautiful maze of lagoons and waterways by traditional African canoes called Mokoroā€™s. This enormous oasis is a haven for birds and wildlife, from hippos and crocodiles to water-adapted antelope like lechwe and the shy sitatunga.

Chobe National Park

Chobe National Park has the largest concentration of elephants in Africa. It provides an incredible wildlife experience just two hours by road from Victoria Falls or Livingstone. Exclusive lodges offer game drives by open 4WD vehicles with experienced guides and sundowner cruises on the wide Chobe River, a wildlife sanctuary.

Makgadikgadi Salt Pans

This expansive moon-like landscape is one of the largest salt flats in the world. During the wet season, 35-75,000 zebra and wildebeest migrate into the area, making it South Africaā€™s last surviving zebra and wildebeest migration. Hundreds of thousands of flamingos appear to feed as long as the water lasts. The Makgadikgadi is a permanent sanctuary for desert species such as the fascinating and engaging meerkat and the elusive brown hyena, the third-rarest carnivore in the world!

Central Kalahari

The mysterious Kalahari is one of the worldā€™s great wilderness areas. A visit to this remote region will provide you with a fascinating insight into the origins of the Okavango Delta as well as the archaeology of the region. Meet a San or Bushman and learn about their intriguing culture.
