WHY WE LIKE THIS HOTEL

Uakari Lodge is a remote community-based eco-tourism project within the world’s largest protected flooded forest, an area home to a breathtaking array of species including the iconic red-faced Uakari monkey. Floating peacefully over the water, the lodge merges traditional Amazonian design – thatch topped hardwood bungalows – with modern sustainability including solar panel heating, recycling and a waste water treatment system. The rooms are all simple with private terraces overlooking the water while the cuisine delivers hearty Brazilian fare; fresh fish or chicken accompanied by black beans, rice and regional fruit such as açai, cupuaçu and sapodilla. Uakari offers fully inclusive 3 and 4 night packages with daily excursions led by experienced guides into the surrounding jungle and channels. During wet season, guests head off on motorised canoes through the flooded forest while dry season opens up more nature walks and community visits. Back at the lodge, you can relax on the deck, swim in the river or retire to the bar which houses a small lounge, TV room and reference library. The Uakari Lodge is a beacon of sustainable tourism and the facilities surprisingly comfortable. It is on the expensive side due to its remote location yet the wildlife and pristine environment are second to none in the Brazilian Amazon.
