Samar Villas is located in a quiet part of town away from all the big chain hotels and large tour groups. A discrete entrance off a quiet back street reveals a beautifully renovated traditional Angkorian house. The incorporating of Khmer style with a touch of modern design makes the Samar Villas our favourite new boutique to open in Siem Reap in quite some time.
The resort comprises of just 2 villas, an apartment and 5 junior suites all overlooking a swimming pool and a luxuriant tropical garden. Facing the garden and overlooking the large swimming pool, the Junior Suites are made from wood and local materials. Spacious and refined, each tastefully decorated suite comprises a room with canopy bed and a private outside veranda for relaxing. The Villas have large lounges and the Apartment has two bedrooms – ideal for 2 couples or families.
All hotel rooms offer the ultimate in comfort and technology: plasma TV (installed on request), wi-fi, air-conditioning with individual control, mini bar, imported beds and sheets made of Egyptian cotton satin. All are equipped with a bathtub and separate shower, hairdryer, minibar, safe and TV satellite.
The Hotel Restaurant offers an innovative menu conceived by Thorn Vannak, the head chef who trained in the Raffles Grand Hotel of Angkor. Dining at the Samar is synonymous with discovery, pleasure and surprise. With this in mind, the concept of ephemeral dining is implemented whereby each meal is served in a different place – including two off site top quality restaurants!
There is a small spa and a unique barber’s chair!
Subtle rather than ostentatious, elegant and sophisticated are all ways to describe Samar. Quite simply a little gem in a town full of great boutique hotels the ante has been upped!
