Phnom Penh
FCC Phnom Penh | $$
Historic Hotel, Modern Chic
The Foreign Correspondents Club Hotel Phnom Penh offers sweeping views of the Mekong River and National Museum. Its central location in the heart of the waterfront district is second to none, the city’s best quality bars and restaurants are only seconds away.
Each of the seven rooms - named after Angkorian temples - are uniquely, but for some maybe a little sparsely, decorated giving a homely yet chic modern feel. Each comes equipped with TV and air-conditioning and stunning views across the waterfront. The famous FCC menu has recently been updated and has introduced generous flourishes of traditional Khmer flavours spiked with funky French influences. While still built on FCC main-stays such as beer-battered fish and chips, deli-fresh sandwiches, and wood-fired pizzas, the heart of the menu remains a finely crafted blend of Asian, Mediterranean and Western-influenced flavours. The hotel bar, known locally just as the “F”, is still a favourite haunt of journalists and film stars and a great place to spend an evening.
This funky little hotel is a great choice for those wanting to be in the heart of the action. The only downside is it’s lack of facilities such as a swimming pool and that it can be a little noisy at night but for just a couple of nights it is well worth those minor inconveniences to be in this great location and historic hotel. A nice touch is that you are able to sign meals and drinks to your room from the hotels sister businesses Café Fresco and Pacharan, a Spanish Tapas restaurant, that are both in the same block. Book early to avoid disappointment!
This is just one of the hotels that we recommend in this area. If your favourite is not featured just let your consultant know - we will be happy to book it for you!
