Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong | $$$$$
Directors favourite hotels, Great Spa, Historic Hotel, Honeymoon, Luxury
This newly renovated, iconic hotel is located overlooking the glittering Victoria Harbour. The hotel has been the centre of Hong Kong’s social and business scene since 1963 and this glamorous past is echoed in the lavish redesign which saw whole hotel completely transformed into the vanguard of modern luxury.
The 502 rooms and suites have been completely recreated offering all guests more space, gone are the outdated balconies that no one ever used and the extra space has been well utilised giving a larger living area. The sleek designs incorporate contemporary luxuries and thoughtful ingenuities that will surprise even the seasoned traveller. If using sophisticated entertainment and business technology is frightening to you fear not - all rooms come with the full support of an IT butlers! There are a range of rooms and suites to choose from and all are stylish, chic and glamorous with views either to the city or the harbour.
The dining choice is as dazzling are the room choice, there are no less than ten options to choose between. In our opinion the pick of the bunch is the French influenced 3 Michelin starred Pierre but this is closely followed by “the cake shop” which produces what must be the best range of cakes, chocolates and patisseries in Asia!
There is also a new spa with 8 private treatment rooms including 2 couples' suites, each with private steam shower and tub. It is home to Hong Kong’s first authentic Ayurvedic Sanctuary, a Hydrotherapy Room, a Kneipp pool, Chinese Herbal Steam rooms and a Vichy Shower. For the more active there is a swimming pool and fitness centre on hand.
The list of facilities, eateries and bars is endless but in our opinion you may add as many facilities as you can but the true test of a luxury hotel is the service and the Mandarin Oriental does not disappoint. The legendary service levels of the old Mandarin have been maintained, if not actually improved up on. From check in to check out and every dealing with hotel personnel in-between the staff at Mandarin Oriental just seem to be able to get it right with minimal fuss. This is what makes this hotel one of our favourite in the region.
This is just one of the hotels that we recommend in this area. If your favourite is not featured just let your consultant know - we will be happy to book it for you!
