Hong Kong is easy to explore, even for the least experienced traveller. We would certainly recommend that you take either a full or half day basic orientation excursion with a driver and guide but further than that Hong Kong is a place best explored at your own pace. We will recommend specific markets, temples and other places of interest according to your tastes prior to your departure.
A few of must see places and must do things if you have the time are:
- Take the tram to Victoria Peak for the spectacular views across the harbour
- Cross the harbour between Hong Kong and Kowloon on the Star Ferry
- Shopping in one of the many modern malls and local speciality markets, both are very interesting even for the most shopaphobic!
- Visit one of the many museums
- Go to the races at either Sha Tin or Happy Valley
- Explore the outlying islands by local ferry
- If stopping over with the kids why not take them to Hong Kong Disneyland
- Afternoon high tea at the Peninsula Hotel
- For the adventurous foodie try a local style Dim Sum lunch
- Spend the evening hanging out in the cool bars on Lan Kwai Fong
