LAOS

Laos is one of Asia’s best kept secrets. The laid back colonial charm and its snails pace of life make the country an absolute joy to visit – a complete contrast to its hectic neighbours and quite unlike anything you will have experienced before.

Once only for the most intrepid backpacker the country has slowly begun to open its borders and cater for the more discerning traveller but at the same time not sold its soul to mass market tourism.

This devoutly Buddhist nation is centred along the mighty Mekong River, with the sleepy temple strewn town of Luang Prabang being the jewel in the crown. There is however so much more to the country than just this one town. There are hill tribes to explore, long since abandoned pre-Angkorian temples that will leave you in awe and natural wonders that will amaze.

Accommodation is rustic and full of character, service is at a relaxed pace – it’s just not in the Laotian nature to rush around and fuss – and the food is excellent. It is also one of the best value destinations in the world.

Now the secret is out get there quick - things will inevitably change in the future.
