The Santi Resort & Spa is situated 6km from the town centre and should not be confused with the original, centrally located sister property Villa Santi Hotel.
This resort sits in over 10 hectares of beautifully landscaped gardens, surrounded by mountains and natural streams about a 10 minute drive, the last part down a bumpy track, away from the town centre. There is a feeling of space and peacefulness and of being at one with nature as there are no noisy roads and you do not hear the wake up calls from the temples in this remote spot.
There are just 52 rooms and suites. All Deluxe Rooms are decorated with authentic Lao rosewood furnishings and genuine Lao silk textiles. All rooms are complemented with individually controlled air conditioning, TV with satellite programs, in-house movies, mini bar, en suite facilities, bathrobes, slippers and private balcony overlooking the beautiful panoramic mountain view. The free standing Lao-French colonial style villas are located near a lotus pond and in addition to the Deluxe Room facilities they have a spacious living room and private terrace overlooking the pond and gardens.
The resort has a restaurant specialising in Royal Lao cuisine as well as serving international dishes. One of the main reasons many choose to stay at this resort is that it has the best swimming pool in Luang Prabang complete with deck and loungers, a most welcome respite after a morning exploring the temples in town! There is also a small spa. The resort runs a shuttle bus at set times between the resort and the town with the last one returning at 10pm, so eating out is not a problem.
As with Grand Luang Prabang this resort is a little isolated but as the smaller boutique properties in the town get full well in advance it is an excellent option for those wanting good quality accommodation but can not be flexible with travel dates. It is also good for those who prefer a quiet location as the historic properties in the town can be quite noisy at times. The grounds are well kept and the service here is okay.
