This special resort, tucked away in remote corner of mystical Borneo one hour from Kota Kinabalu, is set in 400 acres of lush tropical vegetation - which includes a unique nature reserve - on Pantai Dalit beach. Here you can come face to face with Borneo’s “man of the forest” the Orang-utan, as well as a remarkable array of indigenous flora and fauna. Unexpected encounters with hornbills, peacocks and a friendly bear cat all part of the experience at this remarkable resort.
The resort comprises of 420 well-appointed guestrooms in two wings, namely the Garden Wing and the new Ocean Wing. In the Garden Wing all ground floor rooms have private relaxation areas accessible through lush gardens whilst all the upper floor rooms offer private balconies with daybed and views of the well tended landscape and sea. The Ocean Wing offers 90 very spacious premier rooms that come complete with private outdoor bathtubs with sweeping views to the ocean on each balcony. The rooms are each decorated in soft earth tones and intricately carved panels giving a very relaxing ambience. All rooms come complete with Broadband Internet access, LCD flat screen TV withcable, tea and coffee making facilities, in-room safe and even a pillow menu.
The resort’s choice of seven restaurants and bars offers diners a range of enticing options, from popular Malaysian and Asian fare to traditional cooking from Northern India and Goa, as well as contemporary western cuisine. The many options for relaxation include the Spa at Dalit Bay or you can take part in cruises, cycle rides, jungle walks, deep sea fishing or even an incredibly romantic horse ride along the beach. There are also numerous water sports, both motorised and none motorised, fitness centre and a fun-filled Kids' Club to care for younger visitors.
Of the two Shangri-La resorts in Sabah the Rasa Ria is more remote, thus providing a more relaxing experience. It is perfect for anyone who wants to experience Borneo without having to head deep in to the jungle, you can see rehabilitated Orang-utans and wildlife here, or as a luxurious relaxing beach break following a tour in to the jungle. The rooms are excellent as is the food and the service!
