MALAYSIA - Itinerary Ideas

All travel arrangements are on a PRIVATE, individual basis to offer complete freedom of choice. You will not be expected to share travel arrangements with other people unless otherwise stated. The itineraries below are designed to give you a flavour of what is possible and can be tailor-made to suit your preferences. Malaysia Peninsula Discovery
This itinerary takes in the best of the culture, wildlife and beaches to be found in Peninsula Malaysia. At certain time of year however, the weather will be better for your beach break at the end if you visit one of the east coast resorts. The Wildlife of Borneo
This itinerary is designed for the more serious wildlife enthusiast and takes in the main wildlife attractions found on the and off the coast of the island of Borneo. These include the orang utan, proboscis monkey, gibbons, turtles and birdlife. If you are lucky you may also see other endangered species such as wild elephants and clouded leopards to name but a few. Learn more>>

Malaysia & Cambodia – cities, temples and beach
Malaysia and Cambodia combine easily to give the visitor a good overview of two very different Asian cultures. This itinerary takes in the best of the two capital cities, includes a few days seeing the magnificent temples of Angkor and some rest and relaxation on a beautiful beach at the end. Learn more>>


Malaysia Peninsula Discovery
This itinerary takes in the best of the culture, wildlife and beaches to be found in Peninsula Malaysia. Day 1
Fly from Australia to Kuala Lumpur

Day 2
Explore the capital city, including a visit to the spectacular Batu Caves.

Days 3-4
Transfer by road to Taman Negara to explore the traditional villages and jungle wildlife.

Days 5-6
Drive to the Cameron Highlands to visit the tea plantations and rural villages.

Days 7-8
Continue north to the island of Penang for a couple of nights in historic Georgetown where you can explore the colonial heritage, colourful temples and night market.

Days 9-12
Take the ferry across to Langkawi to spend the last few days of your holiday relaxing on one of the wonderful beaches at a resort of your choice.

Day 13
Return to Australia via Kuala Lumpur.


EXTENSIONS
We can easily add a few days wildlife viewing in Sabah or a shopping trip to Singapore to the above itinerary. just let your consultant know your preferences!


The wildlife of Borneo
This itinerary is designed for the more serious wildlife enthusiast and takes in the main wildlife attractions found on the and off the coast of the island of Borneo. If you are lucky you may also see other endangered speciaes such as wild elephants and clouded leopards to name but a few.

Day 1
Fly from Australia to Kota Kinabalu, the capital city of Sabah.

Day 2
Day trip to Mount Kinabalu National Park for trekking or birdwatching.

Day 3
Early flight to Sandakan and take a boat to Turtle Island for a day on the beach and an evening of turtle watching.

Day 4
Return to the mainland for the orang-utan feeding at Sepilok.

Day 5
Travel on to the Kinabatangan River for an afternoon boat trip to see the Proboscis monkeys and other abundant wildlife.

Day 6
Full day exploring the Kinabatangan River.

Days 7-8
Transfer to the Tabin Wildlife Reserve. Two days in the reserve exploring the unique mud volcanoes and wildlife spotting.

Day 9
Fly from Lahad Datu to Kota Kinabalu and on to Australia.


EXTENSIONS
If you have time we can also slot in a couple of days at the Danum Valley
in central Sabah and/or sometime to explore the vast array of underwater wildlife at one of the areas many world famous dive sites such as Mabul or Sipadan. If you want a break from wildlife why not just add on a few days relaxing on one of Sabah’s excellent beaches? Just let us know and we will arrange it for you!

Day 1
Fly from the Australia to Kuala Lumpur and on to Phnom Penh in Cambodia.

Days 2-3
Two days visiting the temples, palaces and markets in and around the capital.

Day 4
Take a short flight to Siem Reap, the gateway town to the temple complex of Angkor.

Days 5-6
Two full days to explore the historic ruins of the once grand city of Angkor. We can include a hotair balloon trip and an elephant ride as well as a boat trip on Tonle Sap Lake.

Day 7
Fly to Kuala Lumpur for a night in the lively capital.

Days 8-9
Travel by road to the Cameron Highlands for two days of sightseeing around local villages and tea plantations.

Days 10-13
Return to Kuala Lumpur Airport for a short flight to Langkawi Island for four nights at your chosen beach resort.

Day 14
Return to Australia via Kuala Lumpur.


EXTENSIONS
It is easily possible to extend the above itinerary to include wildlife viewing at Taman Negara
, or to include a few days exploring Saigon and/or the Mekong Delta in southern Vietnam. Singapore also links very well in to this itinerary if you wanted to do some serious shopping before returning home!
