This friendly lodge is located deep in the heart of Borneo on the banks of the Kinabatangan River. Each bungalow is divided in to two simple but clean rooms each with an en-suite bathroom and ceiling fan – there is no air conditioning but there are mosquito nets so you can leave your windows open in the evenings. The resort always has one eye on the environment and lessens its impact by only using biodegradable and environmentally friendly shampoos, soaps and toilet paper.

There is a media room - well a room with a TV – that shows excellent documentaries about the abundant wildlife found in the region. The restaurant serves good quality buffet style Halal food and is a pleasant place to while away the evening chatting about your adventures of the day. Please let us know in advance if you have any special dietary requirements. To the rear of the lodge are well marked nature trails that can be done with your guide or, if you’re feeling adventurous, independently.

The lodge operates in an eco-friendly way and promotes sustainable tourism practices such as supporting local fishermen and where possible using “green” products. Eco tourism is a relatively new concept in this region but this lodge is making a good effort. The owner also supports the Abai Homestay Development Fund which receives a donation for every person stopping at the lodge to upgrade the village facilities, buy school uniforms and books for the children and seeds for growing vegetables. There are only 33 rooms in total so please book early as there are very few decent alternatives in the area.
