This little gem of a resort is located in the south western corner of beautiful Tioman Island. It is only accessible by boat and the resort will pick you up from the airport and transport you to their unique little world nestled in the stunning jungle overlooking one of the islands great beaches. Great care was taken to minimize any environmental impact when constructing the resort and no large rocks were moved, no trees were cut down, and as a result no two villas are the same.

The 12 charming villas and chalets have been specifically designed to provide space, comfort and utmost privacy. JapaMala’s chic concoction of rustic beauty and contemporary flair adorn the nature-inspired traditional living space, depicting the beauty and elegance of ‘old and new’ in modern Asian living. Each room comes complete with air-conditioning, TV and DVD player, tea and coffee making facilities, veranda with futon and iPod docking station. There is a choice of timber constructed Treetop or Cliffside Chalets, Jungle Sarang Villas – with outdoor bath tub, and Hillside and Seaview Villas with private plunge pools.

There are two stunning restaurants one serving Thai, Indo-Chinese & Malay style cuisine and another serving global cuisine with an Italian emphasis. A small pool complete with wonderful day beds provide either shade or tanning opportunities. Comfortable beach sun beds, perfect for lounging and lazing, are well positioned adjacent to Tamarind Terrace restaurant and steps away from Samadhi Spa, The Samadhi Boutique and the main lobby. Free WiFi is also available in the unlikely event you feel the need to reconnect with the outside world.

This little known resort is the perfect island beach get-away and is well protected from the annual monsoon (Nov – Feb). Swimming in the sea is slightly limited by the tides but the pool area more than compensates. Set in 11 acres of fertile wilderness flanked by an inviting beach the JapaMala is ideal for nature-lovers and those who yearn to simply relax and self-indulge!
