Hotel Maya is a self titled ‘boutique urban resort’ located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur within a short walk of many local attractions including the iconic Petronas Towers. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance and the famous eateries and shopping centres located on Bukit Bintang are just a couple of minutes taxi ride away.
The hotel is airy and extremely cool and features a stylish interior finished with bamboo panelling, a walkway over flowing water and chic furnishings that create an environment that is both contemporary and compelling. The 207 rooms and suites are all spacious and fitted with floor-to-ceiling glass panels that afford the most spectacular views over the impressive KL skyline and allow the maximum amount of natural light flood in to the room. Each room and suite comes complete with DVD payer, WiFi and in room safe deposit box. Each floor also has a valet service; butlers for gentlemen, maids for ladies.
The restaurants and bars within the hotel are equally as contemporary as the rooms. Our personal favourite is Still Waters that serves unorthodox Japanese and European fusion cuisine but if that is not to your taste there are both Asian and International options available from other outlets. Don’t miss a visit to the Sky Bar for its wonderful view of the Petronas Twin Towers and KL Tower. The spa has rejuvenating facilities that include a heated hydrotherapy pool, gymnasium, yoga and aerobic studio.
This resort style atmosphere sets a new yardstick for hotels in KL. The only negative thing we could mention was that the hotels is a little cold, both in temperature and atmosphere, but if you enjoy “minimalist chic Zen” style architecture it is the perfect choice. The food is superb and the service slick and efficient. A great choice to use as a base when exploring this fascinating city.
