Inle Princess Resort lies in the blue mountain range on the east bank of the spectacular Inle Lake near a small tribal village called Magyizin. It is approximately a 50 minute drive from Heho Airport, although if time allows, we prefer to make the final approach to the resort by taking a spectacular boat journey through the canals to the lakeside entrance. The resort is spread out across the lake shore in peaceful, well tended gardens.
Inle Princess has 46 chalets split in to garden and lake view options. The rooms are based on the traditional tribal Shan design and constructed from local materials such as hard woods and rattan. The lake view rooms are our preferred choice as to wake up and witness the unusual scenes on the water is one of life’s most enthralling spectacles. The chalets are linked with wooden walkways over water making them unsuitable for young children. They are sparsely decorated but come complete with writing desk, coffee table, chair and wardrobe containing safe deposit box. Complimentary tea, coffee and mineral water are also provided.
The Restaurant serves local Shan and Intha delicacies, European, Thai, Chinese and vegetarian food in set menu format or you can opt for the Asian and Western a la carte. There is a wonderful terrace bar, the perfect place to watch the glorious sunsets over the lake. There is a small spa and an office that can provide telephony, internet and e-mail services if required.
The rooms are basic but adequate so don’t expect too much, but the setting overcomes any of the minor niggles. One of the best hotel choices to see the magnificent sunsets and a great base from where to explore the area.
