This colonial residence, originally built in 1909, was restored in 2002. The faithful restoration took in to account the original design and stayed true to its design. The resort is more of a country residence and has just 4 rooms, each with open fire place and views over Kalaw and the Shan Mountains. The restaurant has wonderful views to the cottage style garden and the forest beyond and serves both local and Burmese cuisine.
In our opinion the Amara is the most comfortable and distinctive property, the prefect base to explore the unique flora and fauna as well as the culture of Palaung, Danau and Pao tribal villages found in this delightful area.
