Located a 45 minute drive beyond Bagan’s landscape of pagodas lies the geologic and cultural anomaly known as Mount Popa. The lush moisture found on Popa’s hillsides stands in total contrast to the arid Bagan plains.

Popa Mountain Resort is arguably one of the most luxurious resorts in the country almost appearing as an organic outgrowth of the mountain itself. Each exquisitely crafted villa rises quietly out of the forest and provides guests with unparalleled views of Popa monastery. The elegant rooms, each with private balcony, come complete with tea and coffee making facilities, satellite TV and in-house movies and minibar. The resort is made entirely of teak and boasts a magnificent swimming pool and a small spa. The two restaurants serve a fine selection of both local and international cuisine. Outdoor activities include trekking, nature walks, sightseeing, horseback riding, bird and butterfly watching.

This resort ranks as one of Oasis’ favourite in the whole of Asia. The location is simply stunning, the historic and cultural importance of the near by Nat shrine is fascinating and the actual accommodation is wonderful. And although not 5 star we have no hesitation in recommending this resort to all.
