Malikha Lodge is situated in Northern Kachin State, Myanmar’s greenest and most remote state. Access to the lodge is a fifteen-minute drive from the small frontier town of Putao. The only reliable access is by flight into the Putao airstrip during the cool dry season from October to April. This unique resort was designed by Jean Michel Gathy of Amanresorts fame.
Each of the eight private thatched bungalows, placed discreetly amongst towering bamboo trees, has a spacious living area centred around an enormous handcrafted teak bathtub. A custom made fireplace next to the bath completes the sense of indulgence and luxury, and also provides warmth for the private daybeds outside, where views of distant mountains can be enjoyed through the foliage. Being a wilderness retreat there are no TV’s or IDD telephones in the rooms but state of the art communications links are available via the GM’s office if required.
The lodge restaurant gives the feeling of a private house party for all meals, with a choice of set menus prepared daily for lunch and dinner, including one vegetarian option. The theme is refined continental country style in keeping with the wilderness mountain location. With advance notice, special dietary requirements or special events can be catered for. All meals are taken at the Main Lodge, although room service is available on request.
The lodge offer a variety of ways to fill your time. For the more adventurous there are guided half day or full day excursions by mountain bike, kayak or on foot to local villages and scenic view points, these excursions are booked with the GM the evening before. The resort has a stunning black slate swimming pool and plan to open a spa in 2008.
The Malikha Lodge bring a new dimension to luxury adventure travel in Southeast Asia. The way the double-bathtub is the focal point of the room is ingenious and considering the ultra remote location this has to be the most luxurious accommodation of its kind in Southeast Asia. Bookings are required to be for a minimum of 3 nights and the price includes day trips and guided excursions within the Putao Valley, all meals and house drinks - including a selection of wines, spirits, soft drinks, juices, teas and coffees.

Malikha Lodge is only open between 01st October and 30th April each year.
The all inclusive rate does not include champagne and a small selection of premium wines and spirits. Additional payments can be made by credit card or in USD or Euros in cash.
