This great little resort was originally set up for researchers but has now become a firm favourite for bird watchers and tourists just wanting to see something of the nature of Myanmar. The resort is set deep in the heart of the wetlands and consists of a series of bungalows in an arc over looking the water. The bungalows are unusual in design, in that they are modelled on boats. Each is free standing and has air-conditioning as well as fabulous views.
The restaurant serves a fixed menu but the food when we stayed there was delicious! This unusual little resort deserves consideration in any itinerary to this fascinating country, if only as a break from seeing temples everyday. The boat trip in to the reserve was one of our favourite excursions in the country!
