Twante
The village of Twante is reached by a local ferry on a 2-3 hour journey along the Yangon River and the Twante Canal from Yangon. The main reason to visit this peaceful village is to witness the age old way of life. Pottery is a major cottage industry in Twante and here you can venture in to the potters homes to see them at work. The pottery is mainly for local consumption and you will not be harassed in to buying unwanted goods. The Shwesandaw Pagoda, local town market, Snake Temple and weavers homes can also be visited. This half day excursion gives visitors a great chance to travel on the river and see the life in a typical delta river village.
