Orangutan Tours at the Sepilok Orangutan Reserve
An increasing number of travellers are traveling to Borneo and most will agree that the orangutan tours are one of the highlights of the holdiay. The Sepilok orang-utan sanctuary is becoming famous all over the world for its amazing work in rehabilitating these apes with the intention of releasing them back to the wild where they belong. Even though the 40 sq km park is densely covered in jungle there is a feeding platform that orang-utan go to at particular times each day, this makes your chances of being able to view these magnificent animals very good indeed. Instead of staying in Sandkan or KK or and only making a quick side trip we highly recommend that you take the time to stay at one of the nearby lodges, this gives you the chance to do the orangutan tours at feeding time several times. Generally speaking the afternoon feeding is much less busy as the day trippers have all left and things are quieter which in turn encourages more of the shy apes out in to the open. It is also possible to take a night safari along the raised platforms in to see the creatures of the jungle at their most active.
