Cultural Explorer
This itinerary takes you to the ancient kingdoms of Thailand where you will see ruins of extraordinary proportions, hear incredible stories of war and destruction and how the early peoples of the region were ruled. You will also get a chance to visit the extraordinary hilltribe villages in the far north before finishing your holiday relaxing on one of the countries fantastic beaches. This trip utilises road, rail and river travel.

National Parks and Beaches
This inventive itinerary, utilising Thailand’s first tented jungle camp and one of our favourite Thai beaches, is the ideal amalgamation of adventure and relaxation. The accommodation at Elephant Hills is simple, but comfortable, and the activities can be tailored to suit your level of fitness.

The Mysterious North
Thailand is a country many have visited, but so few make the effort to discover the fascinating towns and hilltribe villages of the North. Vastly different to the commercial beach resorts and flashiness of Bangkok travel to the North gives an insight to the ancient Thai culture and traditional way of live unchanged for centuries of the remote ethnic populations.
Day 1:

Full day at leisure in the city for shopping or exploring the many temples and palaces.
Day 4:
Depart from Bangkok mid-afternoon gliding gracefully north. At dusk dock for an overnight stay next to the peaceful Kai Tia Temple. After a superb candlelit dinner on deck, spend a relaxed evening under the stars.
Day 5: An optional wake-up call at 06.00 in time for a traditional offering of alms to the Buddhist monks is followed by a leisurely breakfast. Late morning disembark at Bang-Pa-In for a guided tour of the Summer Palace. Then take long-tail boat ride to the ancient city of Ayuthaya. After a Thai lunch head back to Bangkok Airport for your flight to Sukhothai.
Day 6:
Spend the morning exploring the peaceful stupas and palaces of the oldest of the ancient kingdoms before heading by local train to Chiang Mai.
Day 7:
Full day with your guide to explore the delights of Chiang Mai. There are nearby handicraft villages and exotic temples on almost every street in this magical city.
Day 8:
Full day exploring the local area and the many colourful hilltribe peoples.
Day 9:
Transfer to the airport for your flight to your preferred beach destination.
Day 10 – 14
Relaxing on the beach
Day 15:
Fly back to Bangkok and then on to Australia.
EXTENSIONS
Thailand is Asia’s most accessible city and we can organise holiday extensions to any of the neighbouring countries with ease. A great end to the above itinerary would be a few days visiting the regions most spectacular cultural destination – the awe inspiring temples of Angkor in Cambodia!
National Parks and Beaches

Day 2:
The morning is free to relax before an afternoon excursion in a longtailed boat on the city’s backwater canals (klongs).
Day 3:
A full day at leisure to explore the many attractions and shopping centres at your own pace.
Day 4:
Fly to Phuket and transfer to Khao Sok National Park, where you will spend three nights at the Elephant Hills tented camp.
Days 5-6:
Two days exploring the national park, where activities include easy-to-moderate trekking, elephant riding, kayaking and nature trails (activities not on a private basis).
Day 7:
Travel south along the stunning coastal road to your resort in Krabi.
Days 8-11:
Four days to soak up the sun on the beach at Krabi. Snorkelling, diving and rock climbing are amongst the many activities that can be arranged locally.
Day 12:
Transfer to Krabi airport for your flight back to the Australia, via Bangkok.
Note; Krabi can easily be changed for Phuket or Khao Lak in this itinerary.
EXTENSIONS
For those with a keen interest in wildlife, add in a side trip from Bangkok to Khao Yai, one of Thailand’s best national parks. The park has caves, waterfalls, hiking trails and pristine monsoon forests and is home to elephants, Asiatic black bears, rare bats and diverse birdlife; nocturnal animals can be spotted on an unforgettable night safari. Accommodation is available in resorts near the park, or it is possible to spend two days exploring with your ranger guide, with a night spent under canvas in the rainforest.
Northern Thailand offers the wildlife enthusiast the opportunity to train to become a Mahout (elephant trainer) with courses lasting between 1 and 5 days. Specialised bird watching trips can also be arranged lasting from 1 day to 14 days. Please call for on 1300 720 443 details.

Fly to Chiang Mai. Afternoon visit to Doi Suthep temple perched high on a hill, affording stunning views of the city.
Day 5:
Full day cookery course, including a visit to the local markets and feasting on your culinary creations.
Day 6:
Fly to Mae Hong Son, a quaint sleepy town tucked away near the Burmese border. The rest of the day is left at leisure to explore the small laidback town.
Day 7:
Full day exploring the local area and the many colourful hilltribe peoples.
Day 8:
Drive along the picturesque, twisting road to the village of Pai, stopping off to explore caves and waterfalls en route.
Day 9:
A day to explore Pai, possibly trekking to some of the nearby ethnic villages in the surrounding countryside.
Day 10:
Drive to the Chiang Rai district to a rural but luxurious retreat to relax for a couple of days.
Day 11:
A full day to visit the hill tribes in the villages in the vicinity.
Day 12:
Drive to the Golden Triangle.
Day 13:
A full day excursion to border towns in both Laos and Burma in the Golden Triangle region.
Day 14:
A day at leisure in the Golden Triangle, it is possible to take a course in how to look after an elephant (Mahout training).
Day 15:
Fly back to Bangkok and then on to Australia.
EXTENSIONS
From Bangkok, the beach resorts and islands of southern Thailand are easily accessible. It is also possible to fly from Bangkok to Siem Reap, in Cambodia, to visit the majestic temples of Angkor. Alternatively from the Golden Triangle you can cross the border into Laos to take a river cruise to Luang Prabang.
