Belle Villa is one kilometre from the heart of the village and can easily be reached on foot in less than 10 minutes. The town is approximately 2 and a half hours scenic drive from Chiang Mai and of almost the same distance from Mae Hong Son making it the perfect stop off point when travelling between the two by road.

Each of the delightful 23 deluxe wooden stilt cottages has private balconies with stunning views across to the nearby mountain range. All cottages are well equipped and for such a remote property the accommodation standard is above most guest expectations but please do not expect the 5 star service of an international hotel.

The restaurant is relatively sophisticated; the restaurants in town generally only serve very basic Thai dishes and backpacker favourites. The resort even has a small swimming pool, quite a rarity in these remote areas! They offer a traditional Thai massage service, have a wireless internet facility, can rent you mountain bikes and motor bikes – but be warned the bike ride to the waterfall is not for the faint-heartened, offer inner tubing down the Pai River, have a jogging track and will arrange a free tuk-tuk to the village centre on request.

The stunning scenery has made Pai a favourite backpacker haunt for many years but it has been off the more discerning travellers route due to the lack of any credible accommodation….that is until now! The Belle Villa has made staying in the wonderful little town a pleasure. Pai is now becoming a centre for artisans and performers. Now the decent roads have made it more accessible we suspect the tranquil atmosphere will not last forever. Experience it soon before it becomes an overspill town for Chiang Mai!
