Koyao Pavilions | $$$$
Character Boutique, Remote location
Staying at Koyao Bay Pavilions you won’t feel you're in a hotel, but more like a privileged guest at a private estate as there are only three rooms to choose from! The Pavilions open directly to 250 meters of sandy beach and onto the spectacular panorama of Bileh’s islands. Nestled between the natural shoreline, paddy fields and a coconut plantation shelter, the three pavilions are arranged around a central swimming pool. All villas have open views to the bay and direct access to the beach.
The three private Thai-style pavilions are spacious, airy and filled with antique furniture and all amenities you would expect in a hotel. They open directly onto a lush tropical garden planted with many native species of trees, palms and flowers, orchids. Each Pavilion has a sea view and is made up of one bedroom and an exterior living room. They are furnished with king size bed, antique furniture and a day bed. The units are not air-conditioned but a/c units are available on request. The design of the pavilions is inspired by traditional architecture throughout South East Asia: a thatched and wooden roof structure in order to allow the breeze to pass through on balmy nights, wood flooring throughout, dark tropical woods and naturally tinted lime plaster. Privacy is of course a must and each pavilion is secluded from the other. Trees, palms and flowers are carefully planted to provide total privacy and quiet.
Each room has;
- TV with DVD player
- Music system
- Telephone and fax line
- Minibar
- Safe deposit box
- Tea and coffee making facilities
The restaurant serves only the freshest of food, generally seafood caught that day by local fishermen. The kitchen opens on to the restaurant and you are always welcome to watch the chef preparing your meals and learn a little about Thai cooking at the same time. If you want a break from seafood just let them know the day before and they will collect your requirement the next day from the market. The rice is grown locally in the paddy fields at the back of the property. Great quality Mediterranean style food is also available and all accompanied by a very respectable wine list from the house cellar.
The staff are friendly and always available to assist you with organising activities should you wish, and we would certainly recommend a picnic on an uninhabited remote island coupled with some good snorkelling; but at the end of the day this is really a place to come and relax. Computers and the internet are not high on anyone’s agenda here!
With discreet, smart, integrated buildings that fit naturally in to the environment this small and intimate resort is the perfect island escape. So what are the negatives, well we suppose the fact you can only swim from the beach at high tide could count but with the pool being shared by only three pavilions that hardly counts and maybe the fact there are no discos, night clubs and binge drinking crowds……!
This is just one of the hotels that we recommend in this area. If your favourite is not featured just let your consultant know - we will be happy to book it for you!
