Krabi
In our opinion the best beaches in Southeast Asia are found in Krabi Province. We arrive at this conclusion not only because of the perfect talcum powder sands and azure seas but also the dramatic seaboard with its limestone karst outcrops, hidden lagoons and most importantly the way the area has been developed. Unusually for this part of the world the development has been limited and the majority of beaches have a deserted feel to them.
The most attractive beaches in the Krabi area are found on the spectacular Railay Peninsula, accessible only by boat. The peninsula is home to the fabulously expensive Rayavadee, in our opinion one of the best hotels in Asia; other options on the peninsula are available but are generally not that good. Klong Muang beach is also one of our favourites.
Krabi is also well known for its climbing, there are climbs for all levels from first timers to novices. However, to Oasis, Krabi Province is best known for the surrounding islands such as Koh Phi Phi, Koh Yao and Koh Lanta. This is where you will discover fantastic island hideaways and secluded boutique style hotels all in dreamy idyllic locations far away from the frantic pace of western life.
Krabi has excellent nearby dive sites and is a mecca for climbers.
