Historic Hotel
This former governor's residence has been restored and converted into one of Vietnam's newest boutique hotel. It is stunningly positioned overlooking the fabled Perfume River and surrounded by two hectares of land and with the river and citadel as back drop.
Great care has been taken to preserve the comforts and atmosphere of a classic colonial villa in an chic Art Deco style. The 122 rooms and suites, many of which have breath-taking views across the Perfume River to the imposing flagstaff of the Citadel beyond, are all subtly elegant. The hotel’s signature suites in the original mansion building are truly spectacular, each individually designed with four-poster beds, beautiful art deco furniture and spacious terraces. Hue is well known in Vietnam as being home to the best cuisine and this hotel has reputedly the finest restaurant serving Vietnamese food with European accents all accompanied by a fine wine list. The hotel has a huge swimming pool and a good quality spa that offers a wide range of treatments from around the world.
With the limited accommodation options in Hue the recent opening of La Residence is most welcome. It is certainly the best hotel choice in town and the only downsides are that it is a little out of the way, but taxis are cheap and plentiful and that the service does not quite match up to the grand décor.
