VIETNAM - Destinations & Hotels
Sapa
Topas Ecolodge | $$$
Eco-friendly, Remote location
The newly developed Topas Ecolodge is located 18 km from Sapa, deep in the Hoang Lien Mountains. From each individual lodge there are breathtaking views across the scenic valleys below, which are home to villages of the Tay and Red Dao minorities.
The 25 individual stone built lodges have been built by local crafts men using in the main local materials. Each lodge uses solar technology for all the accommodation and hot water requirements as well as implementing a waste water facility to avoid polluting the local area. The rooms are simple and functional but their main selling point is that each has a private balcony with magnificent views! The restaurant serves meals 3 times a day and has local, Vietnamese and western food on the menu.
That there is plenty to do from the lodge, including gentle walks that visit the local school and black smith as well as observing the local agricultural traditions and that they put back in to the community by employing locals and sourcing all their produce locally, make Topas Ecolodge our favourite accommodation in this fascinating region. There are more comfortable options in the city but the remoteness and simplicity are all part of the charm.
This is just one of the hotels that we recommend in this area. If your favourite is not featured just let your consultant know - we will be happy to book it for you!
