Historic Hotel
The Majestic has a wonderful charm with oodles of character, and with the recent upgrade and new wing this has become one of our favourite hotels in the city. The location on Dong Khoi Street and on the Saigon River is excellent for easy walking to the main city attractions and shopping.
Originally built in 1925, the hotel has retained many of the original features and has seen many reincarnations during the colourful history of Vietnam. During the Vietnam War the hotel was frequented by foreign correspondents and espionage agents.
Rooms are well appointed and our recommendation is the Deluxe River View room, with original floorboards and features in an art deco style. Bathrooms have been recently upgraded but retain their charm and character.
There are a selection of restaurants and bars, with the rooftop bar providing splendid views over the city. Other facilities include a health club with open-air swimming pool, fitness centre and small spa.
The Majestic offers a characteristic stay in a great location and represents excellent value in this somewhat overpriced city.

This is our top luxury pick in Saigon. The Park Hyatt is in an excellent location, in the heart of the city overlooking the Opera House and whilst it is a new building, it has been designed with a character in keeping with the colonial feel of the city and has a cool, relaxed ambience.
