Perched off a quiet street at the heart of the La Paz’s financial district, Hotel Europa is a modern hotel and among the most comfortable in the city. It opened its doors to the public in 1998 at the forefront of a new wave of hotels and is close to a number of bars, restaurants and city attractions including the witches’ market.
Its design is distinctly American in feel with generous communal areas yet look beyond the standard, business décor and you find artwork from Gaston Ugalde, Bolivia’s most famous artist.
There are 110 spacious rooms and suites, all modern and comfortable and warmed by under-floor heating. The décor is light and airy with soft, neutral tones. Each room features the standard mod-cons you might expect from flatscreen TV’s to wireless internet and cable TV.
For those wishing to dine in the restaurant, the Europa offers a mix of international and local cuisine at their Eurocafé Bistro and Le Gourmet Restaurant as well as Japanese dishes at their Le Balcon Sushi Bar.
Additional services include a gym, sauna and indoor swimming pool.
The Hotel Europa is a very comfortable base, by Bolivian standards, from which to enjoy the city. The décor is business orientated, and rather dated at that, yet its location is very good and it represents excellent value for money.
