One of India’s most iconic and luxurious train journeys, the Palace on Wheels is an exclusive way to experience the highlights of Rajasthan in the utmost comfort.
The Palace on Wheels departs from Delhi every Wednesday during the winter months (September to April) and takes a week, exploring the highlights of Rajasthan. Destinations visited include Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Ranthambhore National Park, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Agra and Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. All meals are included, as well as a full sightseeing and entertainment programme.
The train has 14 carriages, all individually named after different Rajasthani cities and featuring a total of 52 ensuite cabins with a spacious lounge room in each carriage. The interiors are authentic replicas of the historic coaches once owned by former kings of Rajasthan. All cabins and communal areas have been decorated in a rich traditional style featuring draped curtains, hand crafted lights, and local Rajasthani art works lining the walls. Each carriage also has a personal attendant to attend to your needs and ensure you have a comfortable journey.
The Palace On Wheels features two restaurants and a relaxing bar lounge area where guests can sit back and enjoy the passing scenery. Food onboard is excellent with a varied choice of both local and international cuisine.
This unique train experience is considered one of the great railway journeys of the world, providing a unique and memorable travel experience, a great option for those with limited time looking for a luxury experience, and a must for rail enthusiasts.
