Singapore - Oasis Highlights

The Long Bar, Raffles
Raffles Hotel is reputedly where the sole surviving wild tiger in Singapore was shot and made extinct. Some stories place this event in the Long Bar but one undisputed thing about the Long Bar is that it is the home of the world famous Singapore Sling cocktail.

Chinatown
Singapore’s Chinatown evolved around 1821 when the first Chinese junk arrived from China. It is a little pocket of town away from the gleaming skyscrapers and designer outlets, giving the visitor a feeling of what Singapore must have been like in days gone by.

Singapore Zoo
The Singapore Zoo is a model of the `open zoo’ concept, there are no old fashioned cages which typify old zoos – dangerous animals are housed in beautifully landscaped glass-fronted enclosures. The whole concept is fresh and modern and educational, we particularly recommend the ā€œnight safariā€ as a must see whilst in Singapore

Clarke Quay
It was on its banks of the Singapore River that the foundations for modern Singapore were laid more than 150 years ago. Beginning life as a humble bustling fishing village and as trade increased between the East and West it soon developed into a busy seaport. Lying near the mouth of the Singapore River, the site of Clarke Quay, was the centre of commerce during the late 19th century. Today, Clarke Quay is still buzzing with life and activity. The waterfront buildings now play host to a colourful kaleidoscope of restaurants, wine bars, entertainment spots and retail shops.
