The last capital of the Sri Lankan Kings and the countryā€™s second largest city, Kandy is a delightful place to spend at least a couple of days.

Kandy Lake is the focal point of this truly beautiful city which was rightfully declared a World Heritage Site in 1988. Kandy is most well known for being home to the Temple Of The Tooth which is located just north of the lake and houses a tooth relic of the Buddha.

The Kandy Tea museum is also well worth a visit, located at the Hanthana Tea Factory, just 4kms out of town the museum has some excellent exhibits as well as an impressive collection of historical tea processing artefacts. The scenery around Kandy is truly awe-inspiring and there are some superb guesthouses and boutique hotels many with spectacular views of the city and surrounds.
