This 4.8-kilometre curve of the finely grained beach is considered to be one of the best beachfront in The Gambia, and here it seems to have managed to escape much of the earlier coastal erosion.
Sanyang is plentiful in migratory and Gambian bird species due to its abundant vegetation, variable habitats and wetlands. See if you can spot the various raptors, Sanderlings. African Paradise Flycatchers and Grey Plovers, to name a few.
The best locations for nature and beach devotees is between the main highway and the coast. You will be able to explore the sloping land here, peppered with woodland Savanna, Cache and Baobab trees. Casuarinas are prevalent here, and further down you will see mangrove swamps, inland pools and crop fields.
