Eastern Highlands - Zimbabwe
The Eastern Highlands, also known as the Manica Highlands, a mountain range on the border of Zimbabwe and Mozambique, is a sparingly populated highland country with a cooler and wetter climate than other parts of the country.
With magnificent gorges, waterfalls and valleys, Zimbabwe's highest peak Mount Nyangani towering at 2,592 metres lies to the north of the mountain chain in the Nyanga Highlands. Further south and in the central region of Zimbabwe, discover the Bvumba Mountain, an archipelago of misty peaks, providing unique vantage points into Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
The highlands are also home to the Bvumba Botanical Gardens, containing many different species of trees and shrubs, gathered from around the world and located close to the town of Mutare. This area is known for hiking, camping, fishing and abundance of birdlife.
